Stainless steel manufacturers increased production with new laser installation. The Outokumpu team was updating their metal cutting capabilities’ function by cooperating with laser cutting and metal fabrication equipment supplier MBA Engineering.
Outokumpu has been working on three CO2 laser cutting machines to achieve its cutting needs for 15 years. Now the company is ready to replace two of its three machines with one—a Kimla ProCut 20 60 LF 6 kW 6 × 2 m laser cutter from MBA.
Outokumpu’s targets for the new Kimla system are increasing production, reducing running costs, and freeing up valuable floor space. Kimla gave Outokumpu the ideal solution with a fully automated fiber laser cutting machine because it can enhance its capabilities in order to reach projects target more efficiently.
The new system can work effectively from the loading and unloading of stainless steel pallets to the laser cutting as well. Outokumpu wanted to make sure the system can be designed and built according to their needs for their specifications.
As a result, Outokumpu directly got involved in the process of designing for the automation system. The new system can cut apart in 10 minutes while it has previously taken an hour on the old machines. Therefore, the new system can be so efficient to upgrade the whole production process.
